Immigration hard at work

US Immigration Policy! What are they thinking now?

The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that today hundreds of Liberian immigrants took their plea on tour around the Twin Cities today, petitioning congressional offices for a reversal of a government order that they leave the country by Oct. 1.

KARE11 news in Minneapolis/St. Paul has reported that the Liberian government has warned the country can't absorb up to 20,000 returning citizens, including 1,000 living in Minnesota. As Kulah Parker put it, "You can't just take over 20,000 people and throw them in Liberia where there's no running water, no electricity, where there's no jobs."

Working in the construction industry we often get applications for employees that turn out to be illegal aliens. Time and time again the Immigration takes months to notify us of this and does little to punish those who have come illegally.

Targeting those who come here legally & have spent 10-15 years as a part of our community, working here, paying taxes, raising kids here and now they are suddenly told they must return to Liberia is amazing craziness and lunacy to me. Who is drafting these laws in DC?

Please contact by phone or e-mail your State Senators & Congress members to urge them to support MN Rep. Keith Ellison's bill to allow Liberians to apply for permanent residency. Note - This is a Federal mandate and not a State issue so you must contact your Federal Representatives.
