Idol Gives Back! But Who is it Giving to?

Christianity Today reports that tonight American Idol, in a special called “Idol Gives Back”, will raise funds for charities in the U.S. and Africa. During the 24 April episode, every vote cast via phone or text message, “Idol” sponsors Coca-Cola, AT&T and others will donate money to charity. Organisations such as UNICEF, the Global Fund, Save the Children, Nothing but Nets and Malaria No More, and Bono's The One Campaign will benefit from the donations.

I was very excited to hear this news until I found out that 2 of the charities they are supporting are very pro-choice and believe that one means to end poverty in Africa and the world is through aborting the worlds children. Ironically Save the Children is one of those pro-abort organizations that Idol is giving to as well as the UN's UNICEF program, both which want strict population control.

I am sad because I think Idol had a good idea yet I feel I cannot participate in aiding pro-choice resources that may instead of helping the worlds poorest children simply murder them in the name of "family planning"

Life Decisions International is urging those who can to e-mail Idol and let them know of your support of their vision but your disapproval of Save The Children and UNICEF.

If Idol can assure that UNICEF and Save the Children will use none of tonight's donated money for abortion promotion or family planning some have said that would suffice and to support the vision of Idol Gives Back. Let's pray they do!
