The Secret!

For those of you that have not heard the Secret is out. What secret?
The secret to success, prosperity, love, health, money, fame of course!
No!, this is not a new book by an "evangelical" leader.

It's the new run away Best Seller by Aussie Rhonda Byrne.
It's getting the full attention of Oprah, Ellen and much of Hollywoods rich and famous.
It is much like the teachings of the prosperity movement, and the power of positive thinking guru's.

The main idea of "The Secret" is that people need only visualize what they want in order to get it & All without God!
Writer Peter Birkenhead wrote, "And worst of all is the craven consumerist worldview at the heart of "The Secret," because it's why the book exists: "[The Secret] is like having the Universe as your catalogue. You flip through it and say, 'I'd like to have this experience and I'd like to have that product and I'd like to have a person like that.' It is you placing your order with the Universe. It's really that easy." That's from Dr. Joe Vitale, former Amway executive and contributor to "The Secret," on Oprah.com.
Many have stated the message is nearly idenical to the prosperity message, and indeed it is. Both messages have their roots from the same foundation, the new age ideas of possitive confession. The prosperity movements secret is that it did not arise from a Charismatic movement as many think, but from Christian Science which has the same foundational teachings. The Word of Faith movement has done nothing more that try and baptize Possitive Confession and Christian Science and make it "christian" .
It is no suprise that the message sounds quite similar.
One can somewhat understand a non-believer pursuing earthy treasures, and gain, but it astonishes me that "christians" who claim to study the Word of God think that wealth and health is the message of Christ.
The same Christ who we celebrate this Easter as Risen, who left the Heavens to come to the slum called earth, to suffer & die as a ransom did this all so that we can live in luxury here as the "kings kids".
